$105 Million???!!!!?????

Didn't see this until after I posted the "Ramblings," but did anyone else see Magglio Ordonez's contract with the Tigers? $105 MILLION OVER 5 YEARS??? $15 MILLION A YEAR?? FOR A GUY WHO HAD TWO KNEE SURGERIES (including one that he snuck OVERSEAS to have) AND WILL BE 37 BY THE TIME THIS CONTRACT FINALLY, MERCIFULLY EXPIRES?

Well, it is official: Scott Boras has somehow invented a mind-controlling device. What an asshole. That guy is everything that is wrong with professional sports, bundled up in an Armani-suited package.

Comments:
Old Mag's sure is durable too, sounds like the Tigers signed Juan-Gone Part II.

"Updating a continuing story, Danny Knobler, of Mlive.com, reports Detroit Tigers OF Magglio Ordonez (hernia) is due to visit with specialists in Montreal Monday, April 18, and in Philadelphia Tuesday, April 19, to further discuss his hernia. Ordonez is expected to undergo surgery in the near future that would sideline him for a minimum of four-to-six weeks. However, Tigers general manager Dave Dombrowski said the timeline could turn out to be months rather than weeks. The worst-case scenario would be that Ordonez would miss the entire season."

I liked Mags the first couple of years he was with the sox; sort of an underated all-star. Then I think his head got in the way (either that or Scott Boras, I don't know which one). By the time he left I was glad to see him go. Don't get me wrong the guy is a good hitter if he is healthy, but there is no way he is worth that kind money, especially after an injury plagued season. I guess we can just add it to the list of most unbelievable contracts, joining A-rod with Texas, and Beltran with the Mets. Come to think of it, weren't all of those deals done by Scott Boras.
