Friday Ramblings...

--Kanye's new single, "Diamonds Are Forever (Sierra Leone)," sucked. The remix, however, is brilliant. It's the same song, but Kanye totally changed his lyrics, plus added some dude named Jay Z on it. It is awesome to listen to a rap song talking about diamonds--not because they're sweet, but because thousands of people have lost their lives in Sierra Leone due to the diamond black market. Pretty damn cool. And the sample (from the theme song to the James Bond movie of the same name) really grows on you.

--It is not a question of if, but when: does Henry Blanco get into the Hall of Fame on the first ballot, or second?? (He took Javier Vazquez 11 pitches, then went yard with Macias on base to make the game 2-0) Here's a sentence I never, ever would ever have guessed would be typed: Henry Blanco is tearing the cover off the ball lately: .357, 2 HR, 6 RBI and a 1.022 OPS in July.

--Frank Thomas is officially out for the season. Tens of people worried where power is going to come out of the White Sox' lineup.

--Who does Tony Clark think he is? He's hitting .327 with 16 HR and 52 RBI??? Huh??

Wow, GA. Being a huge Cubs homer and all, I thought you would have used your Friday Ramblings to pay homage to probably the best Cubs second baseman of all time: Ryno. Maybe you only like Neifi and Blanco.

-The Rod
Nice catch, Rod. I was just so excited about finally having a player good enough to help us Cub fans get over Ryno being gone...thank you, Jim Hendry, for Henry Blanco!!!
I didn't know that having 2 homeruns and 6 RBIs in a month was considered "tearing the cover off the ball". These are numbers that can be put up in one game, let alone an entire months' worth. Just an observation.
Well, goods, if you can't see through the sarcasim, we have a problem, my friend.
maybe you should lay it on a little bit thicker. . . .that's some confusing sarcasm.
I was joking around, but also extremely pleasently suprised by this offensive output by ol' Henry.
I'm actually glad to see all this stuff, to see that this world offers creativity and ideas other than what my lonesome small town provides.
