Sweet Christ,
Kentucky sucks. There. I beat everyone to it.

Kentucky doesn't suck, Nebraska sucks.
Against a terrible Creighton team Nebraska scored only 11 points at half and had 17 turnovers. They didn't have one successful entry pass, traveled, double-dribbled, couldn't make free throws, carried the ball, and were completly lazy. TJ you know a lot about the team, why does Collier still have a job?

Nebraska played the sloppiest, laziest, most jaw-droppingly awful first half I have ever seen. I'm not exaggerating when I say that North Platte could have beat them in the first half. Just fucking pitiful. Collier should start packing now.
JJ Redick and Adam Morrison are two of the whitest great players I've seen recently. They give me hope.
I never got why Texas was so highly ranked, turns out I was right.
Altman is too good of a coach for Creighton to roll over and die without Nate Funk. The Missouri Valley is tough but they will be in the thick of things. An NCAA bid won't be out of reach, he's done it with worse teams.

First let me just say one thing...I hate fucking Creighton and there preppy ass fans..god i hate it more everytime i got to an NU/CU game.
As for NU...jesus i have never witnessed a more pathetic half of basketball. In general I've been ok with Collier and have been willing to give the guy a chance...but he was as bad as his players were yesterday. What did he do to stop the bleeding in the first half? Horrid use of timeouts...and he never once called some sort of special or used a different set than this 4 out 1 in crap that would never work against creighton's half court trap. Wes Wilkinson has been a stud this year and was the only player doing anything in the first half...it would be logical to think that Collier would do something to get him a shot...but nope. I think it's tourney or bust for BC this year....there is to much good young talent on this team to be putting up with his crap.
Which brings me to this which i might get ripped on...but it's the truth. Collier and Altman are a lot alike. Both are great mid major coaches because they can teach and coach blue collar type players, and both teach systems that work well with slighlty lower caliber athletes....i.e. Altman's trapping on defense and Collier's Princeton type slow down offense that he used in previous years. But neither one of them can recruit or coach at a top Big XII level. Altman was horrid at KSU and Collier isn't doing squat here.
Let's be honest, Scott Spinelli is the only reason Barry still has a job and what's sad is that he should be the head coach next year but there is no way an AD can fire a head coach and promote an assistant in today's world.

a couple more things...
Pete your point about a high school team beating NU yesterday is dead on...except for the part about it being North Platte to do it...old Coach Moore might end up with one of his worst seasons ever this year...they are not good. I'll bet his wife is so pissed that she's beating him.
Second thing...bow down to JJ Redick...have i ever mentioned my man crush???

What has Collier done since he got to Nebraska? He has never made it to the Tourney. He hasn't even won one game in the big XII tourney. He only made it to the NIT once. His record against Creighton is like 1 and 6. I would say it is time to move on.
And honestly what does Joe McCray have to do to get benched? The guy gets arrested during the week, turns the ball over/throws up and ugly threes every time he touches the ball, and is in horrible shape yet he is still out there starting and playing tons of minutes.
P.S. And I also hate Creighton fans.

TJ--Generally I agree with you on your points, especially about Creighton fans, what a bunch of pussies. They come in to Barrett's after the game in their khakis and polos and it makes me want to bludgeon them.
I will disagree in regards to Altman at KSU. KSU has never shown a commitment to B-ball, Altman gets way more support financially and with fans here.
He's had more NBA players at Creighton than a handful of schools in the Big 12. To say that this job, in this conference, with the arena, resources, and support he gets isn't better than KSU is not accurate.
My point is, except for conference prestige, this is clearly a better job than KSU or several other Big 12 schools.
I think he's an excellent coach, and can't believe he hasn't left. I'm anxious to see if he can salvage the season this year.

Pete, no doubt that the CU job is currently a much better gig than the KSU job...in no way is that what i am saying.
My opinion of both Collier and Altman is that there type of basketball and their recruiting connections (altman finding Korver is a great example...no big time schools were that interested in him) are much more suited to succeed at the mid-major level than they are in a major conference.
With that being said...i think this is exactly the reason why Altman NEVER leaves Creighton...he's got too good of a thing going and he won't give that up.

I actually expected more NU fans at the game, it was almost 90-10 Creighton, which is in stark contrast to the baseball games at Rosenblatt, which are probably at least 80-20 Nebraska.
Goes to show that most Nebraska fans only support winners. A-holes.

Pete, I am glad that you made it to the game. When the I left the house, Potter thought that you were dead, and was looking to The Rod to accompany her.
Pete i was hoping for more red there as well...I would actually say that it was about the same amount as the past 2 NU/CU games at the Qwest....not much of a husker basketball following. The home game attendance has been even more pathetic this year than in previous years as well. I would imagine we are averaging about 6K a game is all.
Barry has created no miracles to date, and I don't expect one this year. We need to can this guy ASAP so the team can get accustomed to an interim coach by the time Big 12 play rolls around.
Many of you know how passionate I am about my hatred for those fair weather blue birds and their fans, that hasn't changed, I still hate them.
When SP canned Solich, he said something along the lines of 'we won't surrender the Big 12 to the UT & OU's of the world.' Valid point, well step up you panzy from NP and FIRE COLLIER. We've been surrendering the state of NE to those blue ball ass clowns ever since BC got here, and it's time to do something about it.
Dana Alt appears to be a great coach and has done fine work in Omaha, but until he steps up to a major conference & does the same, his KSU experience, in my mind, will always bring him down. Anyone besides TJ, Birch & I ever seen a basketball game at KSU? They've got plenty of basketball history, lots of banners. Hell, Mitch Richmond took that team into the sweet 16 back in 88. If anything, Altman contributed to the continued demise of KSU basketball. It doesn't matter how little support they get, the KSU football team got the same, if not less support when Snyder went to Manhattan, now you can't drive 5 miles in north central Kansas without seeing one of those friggin wildcat license plates. My point being, if you build a successful program, and just WIN BABY, it don't matter if it's Lubbock, Manhattan, or Tulsa, the people will come, the money will roll in, and you'll get support. Similar to what Dana has built in Omaha.

People in Omaha don't really support Creighton any more than they do Nebraska. The only reason people go to Creighton games is because its the current "it" place to be seen and they serve booze. The only reason they wear Creighton stuff is because they want everyone to think they legitimately support the team. If Creighton takes a turn for the worse, its not going to affect the attendance, just as if UNO's hockey team was horrible it wouldn't affect their attendance. People support these teams because its the best available option for having fun on a given night. If Nebraska played its home games at the Qwest, it would be a much bigger deal than Creighton games. Shit, I can't stand Creighton basketball, but I guarantee I go to a couple of games over Christmas break because I can get in for free and I can drink while I watch some mediocre basketball.
I'm in no way saying that BC & Altman are on the same level, I'd trade coaches in a heart beat. Just as an FYI, here's KSU hi-lights from the 4 years prior to Altman, and also a summury of his accomplishments at KSU. He was also 14 games above 500, which is far better than BC can claim. Lon Krueger took KSU to 4 consecutive NCAA's (including the elite 8) before Altman took over.
1987
Led by three junior college transfers, one true freshman, and new head coach Lon Kruger, K-State makes its first trip back to the NCAA Tournament in five seasons. Norris Coleman (20.7), Mitch Richmond (18.6) and Will Scott (13.9) become the most prolific scoring trio of all-time for the Wildcats.
1988
K-State comes within a blink of an eye of its fifth Final Four as the Wildcats drop a 71-58 decision to intra-state rival Kansas. During the Wildcats four game run through the “Big Dance”, K-State avenges a 29-point loss to the Purdue Boilermakers earlier in the year, by handing the No. 1 seed a 73-70 defeat. The 1988 squad also tied the 1959 team with a school record 25-win season. Mitch Richmond is named a first team All-American and becomes K-State’s third Olympian.
1989
The Wildcats remove any doubt about being an NCAA Tournament team when Tony Massop follows a Steve Henson miss as time expires to beat No. 7 Missouri 76-75.
1990
“Tip in” Tony Massop helps K-State to a last second win during the first round of the Great Alaska Shootout, as the senior follows in Steve Henson’s half-court desperation shot as time expires to give the Wildcats a 71-70 win over Florida State. K-State also upends its first No. 1 ranked team in Bramlage Coliseum, as they beat Missouri 65-58 on ESPN. After four seasons as the head coach, Lon Kruger leaves K-State to take over the head position at the University of Florida. Former assistant under Kruger and Marshall University head coach Dana Altman replaces Kruger

Dana Altman
1991-94 (68-54)
Although his four-year tenure as K-State’s head coach only produced one NCAA Tournament appearance, Dana Altman will be remembered most for his uncanny ability to win close ball games, and for pulling off some of the biggest upsets in school history.
Altman’s teams were a remarkable 28-13 in games decided by six points or less, which included a 6-1 mark in one-point games. His 1992-93 club perpetuated a K-State tradition. Picked to finish last in the Big Eight, Altman’s Cardiac ‘Cats won 11 games in the final minute, earned the school’s first Top 25 ranking in five seasons, finished 19-11, reached the championship game of the Big Eight Tournament and returned K-State to the NCAA Tournament for the 21st time.
Altman’s peers named him Big Eight Coach-of-the-Year in 1993 and he capped the season by upsetting No. 6 Kansas 74-67 in the semifinals of the conference tournament.
The following season, he made it two in a row over KU when he upset the No. 1 ranked Jayhawks 68-64 on ESPN in Lawrence. That 1993-94 squad finished the year with a 20-14 record and advanced to the NIT Final Four in New York City. Altman is now in his 10th season as the head coach at Creighton in his home state of Nebraska.

Gathering with others either on recurrent basis or hardly ever is an ultimate advise for us so as to stay fresh and well-informed.
