YEEEESSSSSSS!!!!!!! GO CUBS GO!

THE CUBS GOT JUAN PIERRE!!!! HOLY SHIT, A LEADOFF HITTER!!!!

Comments:
Great pickup for the Cubs...i was just discussing with Gage yesterday how i was hoping the Braves would make a run for him. He's an igniter. I am however suprised that the Cubs dealt Mitre...

Wow!!!! What an awesome pickup. Much happier with him than if we got Furcal. We still don't have much at SS but this is great. If we can keep the pitching healthy we have a shot.

As far as this being a good deal depends on what they are going to pay Pierre. Does anyone know?

They are giving up Sergio Mitre, who *might* be a good 4 or 5 guy in the rotation *someday*, and Double-A guys Ricky Nolasco and Renyel Pinto.

Pinto is one the Cubs' top pitching prospects, but he had been struggling quite a bit this fall/winter. Nolasco is also a pretty solid pitching prospect. Mitre sucks, I'm happy he's gone--he was sweet all year in AAA (right around a 2 ERA), but got killed in the Bigs.

This is a very good trade. I think Hendry should have given up only two of these pitchers plus a lower-A player of some sort, but desperate times call for desperate measures.

If you put D-Lee's average with RISP with Pierre's OBP, D-Lee would have had around 160-170 RBI's last year. This just makes an unbelievably huge difference in this Cubs team. Along with the bullpen signings, things are looking good right now.

I just hope this blocks the Milton Bradley pick up.

And Mitre sucks, but he did have good hair.

They're talking about Todd Walker for Milton Bradley. This makes me want to throw up.

Anyways...Pete, we have Ronny Cedeno. He is going to be a BAD ASS. Have you ever looked at his numbers from last year? He his .300 in Chicago; in Iowa, he hit .355 with a .403 OBP. YES, YOU JUST READ THAT HE HAD A .402 OBP. His OBP at Chicago was .356. Behind only D-Lee, Ramirez, and Matt Murton. Plus, the guy is only 21. And, Denise's student's babysitter dates the guy, so he has a Nebraska connection.

What else do you want out of a guy?

I just don't like shortstop prospects near as much as I like shortstops. I'm willing to give him a chance, but you have to admit that there is no way this is a sure thing at this point.

That being said, I'm willing to give it a go.

He played awfully well in the last two months of the season. He's sweet.

I also did not realize that Pierre is a career .305 hitter.

God, I can't wait.
