Help with Vegas
Here's the deal: I'm going to Vegas in 9 days, leaving on Wed and coming back Saturday. I haven't been in about 4 years so I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations. Let me explain.
I know that there will be some marathon drinking and gambling sessions, however I'm really overloaded with the limitless possibilities for this. When you are from North Platte, you can be entertained with a case of beer and the back of a pick up truck parked alongside a bridge on a dirt road overlooking a drainage canal. In short, Vegas is the antithesis of this. Hence, the struggling.
Any ideas on where I should gamble and drink at, where I should eat and any other tidbits would be appreciated.

Your first goal should probably be to avoid gambling like most of the contributors to this site.
Then after that, just skip the table games and play poker. This currently has a much higher expected value.

good lord i could post for hours on this...I'll be in vegas in a month and than back again in July for my brothers bachelor party....but here are some suggestions for you:
My places to gamble suggestions: you can gamble everywhere and it's all the same...my personal favorites are Mandalay Bay, Caesar's and The Venetian. If you want $3 craps go to the Barbary Coast. Don't even bother with gambling at the Bellagio, the Palms, or the Hard Rock unless you are ok with $25 minimums.
Places to see the hottest women...the Palms and the Hard Rock...make sure you go to both of these places to party. People watching with a beer in your hand here is some of the best entertainment you will find. The Ghost Bar at the top of the Palms is unreal and there is a decent chance that an above avg. concert wil be going on at the Hard Rock. Other bars to visit....Piano Bar in the NY/NY, great time if you like Piano bars. Go to the "REd Square" in Mandalay Bay for a couple drinks...the infused Vodkas are something that every drinker needs to experience. My final bar place (i'm not a "club guy") but you need to go to the Barbary Coast's club for your late night entertainment. For the life of me i can't think of the name of it, but the damn thing doesn't open until like 3 am and is still rocking at 8 am...it has a long line sometimes, but seriously i've never been to a place with more hot drunk chicks, it's remarkable.
Strip clubs...I've never been in one that isn't incredible, but my favorites include: Olympic Gardens, the Spearmint Rhino, or Crazyhorse II...you won't be disappointed with any of them, but the Rhino is my favorite.
SportsBooks (Pete, i can't believe i almost left this off for you): My favorites are Mandalay Bay the Venetian...Caesar's is also great but not as much seating.
Finally, i would suggest at least touring the new Winn Resort...i've yet to see it but sounds like it's worth 30 min. of your sober time.
For the record, my keyboard is now covered in drool thinking about all of this....
Final Disclaimer: i've been to vegas around 8 times since turning 21 but haven't been there for about 16 mo. so things may have changed. I would appreciate any feedback you have once you return to prepare for my future visits.

TJ--Done and done. Definitely going to play that $3 crap game, and Gage I'm with you on the poker.
I've been playing at the casino here in preparation with fairly good outcomes, so my thoughts are that I will just get drunk for free and try and get up a hundred or two on poker the first night, then spend the next two nights pissing it away on baseball bets, In and Out Burgers and whatnot.
I will be sure to give a detailed account of my goings. But if anyone has any other suggestions my ears are open.

The Piano Bar at New York, New York is indeed a fantastic time. We had some sort of oil barron from Texas put $100 on the players to finish playing the Nebraska Fight Song that we requested (as it kept getting outbid by Notre Dame and...Iowa State???). Not because he liked Nebraska, but because "ya'll seem like good guys."
He then proceeded to buy us a round of drinks and allow one of his three or four women talk to us. Only in Vegas.
