Like Brett Favre.....

without the soul.

I would like to be the first to tell Roger Clemens to go piss off. I thought the whole Favre retire/play discussion was agitating and drawn out, but it pales in comparison to Clemens. At least with Favre, he was always going to be a Packer and money wasn't a question. Clemens just seems to be trying to extract every last dime from the Astros. At some point in time it might just be nice to see the Astros tell him to take that big old ass down the road.

Comments:
Sweet Christ, Clemens is the most detestable baseball player this side of Barry Bonds. I suppose the only good thing in this is that he at least didn't sign with the Sox/Yankees.

Other than that, he needs to take a fucking hike.

From what I have read and watched it was basically Roger deciding if he wanted to retire or play for the Astro's. Peter Gammons said that he had no serious discussions with the Yankees. The Rangers said they saw the writing on the wall because the last time they talked with Roger that his wife was wearing an Astro’s hat and that the Astro’s schedule was lying on a table. Last year he was asked who he would possibly play for and he said Boston, New York, and Texas. I think that the only way he would play for any of those teams is if Houston was doing incredible bad. And even at that point, I think he would be more likely to retire.

I don’t think he was using the other teams for financial leverage either. He got a prorated deal of 22 Mil. Last year he got paid 18 Mil. So there was an increase of $4 Million. I think a 4 million dollar increase is in order for a guy who had an ERA under 2. The previous year the Astro’s increased his pay from 5 million to 18 million so it makes me believe that even without the Rangers, Yankees, and Sox Roger would have still signed a similar contract with the Astro’s.

And Clemens is nothing like Bonds. That comment coming from GA Hill does not surprise me, in fact it was expected. I’m sure if the Astro’s were currently battling the Pirates to see who is the worst team in the central I too would be taking untrue cheap shots at some of the Cubs players. I also would make such a comment if my team traded away a projected all-star in centerfield along with some talented young pitchers to acquire a leadoff man who only has one year on his contact and has an OBP of .272. And I also would make such a comment if my team was currently the worst offensive team in the NL especially after knowing they botched the chance to pick up Miguel Tejada.

Kyle is hilarious. I'm sorry Mike but I agree with him on all accounts, except for the fact that I don't like the precedent this sets for other players to take a couple months off and then become a "hired gun" for contenders. If it happens en masse, that would be annoying.

I don't think he did anything necessarily wrong, they're not his rules. If baseball wants to make rule changes regarding free agents and the time fram they can sign with teams, then they should probably do it now.

And all the shots at the Cubs were right. They really made a bunch of what look to be awful moves, most of them I agreed with. Such as Corey Patterson. I liked the Pierre move and now it just looks idiotic. And we all know where I was on Prior for Tejada, the only one I was right about.

The Cubs blow. Hopefully this will make their fanbase drastically less here in the Metro.

If you think that Corey Patterson is a "projected All-Star," you are out of your fucking mind (unless he is somehow getting enough votes to get him there, which I would guess is, oh, completely impossible).

If you need to try to hate on me and the Cubs to make yourself feel better about cheering for a self-aggrandizing, pompous fuck that wears a commemorative patch of himself--before he achieves what the patch is commemorating!--go right ahead. You're the one that has to look yourself in the mirror everyday.

And P.S.: while, at the time, I did not agree with the offer of Prior for Tejada, the Cubs did not "botch" it. The O's declined. This is not the Cubs' fault. Get your facts straight.

I wasn't talking about Corey Patterson which is funny because I remember when he hit 3 homeruns on opening day and every cub fan was in love with him. I was talking about Felix Pie who I thought was part of the Juann trade. Turns out he wasn't. Still, that trade was horrific considering the Cubs gave up 15 years of pitchers for one year with Pierre. The trade is especially bad considering that Pie is a projected starter next year.

The Cubs did botch the trade for Tejeda. How didn't they? Does Tejeda play for them? No. Do they need him? Yes. Did they have a chance to get him? Yes.

And no one has to like Clemens, I just was saying that he is no way like Bonds. I don't see how you can compare those two. Bonds is hated by virtually everyone in the league. And anyone who has played with Clemens has nothing but great things to say about him. So where is the comparison?

And weren't you the one who at one time said he wanted Clemens to come to Chicago as a pitching coach to toughen up those pussy Cub pitchers?

The Cubs botched the Tejada trade by insisting the Orioles also include Erik Bedard in the deal. I think the O's would've taken the straight up trade proposal.

It's great to see fresh, creative ideas that have never been done before.
