Matt Costa

In the spirit of attempting to review every concert attended by Heavy Soul contributors, I went and saw Matt Costa last night. I was relatively indifferent to the concert, cool venue with about 400 people, but nothing real crazy happened. The highlights were probably them passing noisemakers out to the crowd for one song, the cool t-shirt I got, and $3 pints of Sam Adams Summertime.

I am however floored by his ability to sound like Nick Drake at times.

Gage,

A couple of tuesdays ago I went to the Red Line Tap off of the Morse stop and saw Sexfist play. Don't let the name fool you, these guys are staight-up traditional blue grass; complete with banjo, upright bass, mandolin, guitar, fiddle, vocal harmonizing and even one centrally located microphone. It is a bunch of guys our age and it is pretty cool, if you like traditional bluegrass. The bar is pretty sketchy, but there were a bunch of dred-locked hippies there and the tuesday special is $2 Bergoff. They play there every Tuesday and I think they play another bar called the Horseshoe on Thursdays. It was nothing I would go to all the time, but it was fun, free and the beer was cheep. So, if you are looking for something different to do on some random Tuesday we should head up there.
