What the deuce is currently listening to
1) Wolfmother - Wolfmother (fantastic cd, Love Train is quickly becoming my song for the summer)
2) Gnarls Barkley - St. Elsewhere (really good collaboration between Cee-lo of Goodie Mob fame and Danger Mouse, the cover of Gone Daddy Gone is pretty damn fantastic and there's a reason why Crazy has been the #1 song in England since the single came out)
3) Pearl Jam - Pearl Jam (while I'm not as high on this as the MIB, its still a pretty solid cd considering Eddie Veder just applied for his AARP card)
4) The Raconteurs - Steady, As She Goes (This is a single available on iTunes, Jack White is the lead vocalist and while I don't regularly like the White Stripes, this song is pretty damn good)
5) Ghostface Killah - Fishscale (as has already been mentioned on here, this is probably the best rap album since Common's Be)
Other random stuff I'm still listening too: Panic! at the Disco, the Flaming Lips, and for some reason I've been listening to old Nine Inch Nails.
Well, keep poppin' those collars kids.

Wolfmother sounds like a bunch of kids who decided to cover Led Zeppelin--and succeeded. What Jet usurped from AC/DC, these kids are usurping from Zeppelin. Not that I have a problem with that.
Pearl Jam's newest effort is their best since Yield. They lost some of the overt activism of their past few releases without losing a political edge. Come Back is a fantastic song. So is Life Wasted.
The Raconteurs album will be fantastic. Go to their website. It's hilarious. I've always been a proponent of the White Stripes' simplistic rhythm section and at the same time interested in what Jack White could do with a full section. Wish granted.
The best lyric in all of rap at this current moment is from track five, The Champ..."niggas want me dead, but they're scared to step to me. Rip they guts out like a histyrectomy." Whew.

I love the singles from Gnarls Barkley and the Raconteurs as well. And, let's face it, both of those band names are among the best of all time.
I will recommend Springsteen's "The Seeger Sessions" as being well above average. Anyone who knows me will say that my constant slurping of the Boss dictates that I will say that everything he does is excellent, which is true. However, if you thought that Billy Bragg and Wilco's Mermaid Avenues were good folk covers, which they were, these are probably better.
Also: Rhett Miller's "The Believer" has been out for about 2 months and is still getting some play time, as is Fishscale, Matt Pond PA and the new Flaming Lips.

The Racontuers album IS fantastic it is called "Broken Boy Soldiers" and you really don't notice Jack White.
On the other end of the spectrum I am not much of a "metal" guy but one band that I really enjoy and have for years is TOOL. Their new album "10,000 Days" is amazing and it really displays how unbelievebly talented that band is.
Also on the "Fishscale" tip "All around the world today the kilo is the measure. A kilo is a thousand grams easy to remember."
Word.

Alright, all jokes aside, I am listening to Gnarles again right now, and it is seriously an incredible album. Go buy it tomorrow.
