Guns, God and Gays.....
It looks like it must be an election year b/c the Republicans seem to be dusting off the three G's.
Honestly, I find the whole debate over gay marriage to be offensive on two fronts. One, I think that defining marriage as an institution between a man and a woman is an archaic definition and I honestly have yet to hear a single compelling reason that it should be banned. Seriously, who gives a shit if two dudes want to get married.
Second, is this really the way our lawmakers should be spending their time. It is total crap that the Republicans are tying up the Senate this week with a PR stunt that has basically no chance of passing.
On a side note, reading the coverage has affirmed that Russ Feingold (D-WI)is in fact my favorite senator.

Couldn't agree with you more Gage. I'm also still waiting for the compelling argument against this.
A completely half-assed stunt to try and prevent losing their ass this November. I'm ashamed that Ben Nelson is such a puss when it comes to this morality crap, but if he has to do this to beat Ricketts, then I really feel ashamed for this state.
People here would completely freak out if Nelson didn't vote for this amendment. Mostly because their slack-jawed rednecks on a witch hunt for homos, yet they would certainly get an erection before me if we were watching gay porn in the same room. Here's to insecurity.

I enjoy how people so "enlightened" like you, anonymous poster, think it is OK for you to say "homos," yet you attack "slack-jawed rednecks" for not supporting gay marriage.
Nice work. I'm sure all the "homos" in the world appreciate your support.

Still awaiting the compelling argument.
The context was "witch hunt for homos", I didn't call anyone a homo. And I was referring to those who stand with their picket signs and push their hate agenda. And when I see one of them who isn't a slack-jawed redneck, I will change my bashing to, let's say, "slack-jawed rednecks plus one."
I can't believe, although I shouldn't be surprised, that you are honestly defending this Mike. You're smarter than that.

I think it is undemocratic to call someone stupid for believing that same sex marriage is a bad idea. A whole bunch of people are against it for religious reasons. They are allowed to believe whatever they want, and practice those beliefs without fear or shame.
People are entitled to their opinions. Even if they are not in line with what you believe. That is the heart of this country- freedom of speech.
