Tsunami!

It's pretty easy to forget you're in a foreign country while you're in Australia. The language is not that different. They still have BP stations. American television litters the airwaves. That is, until you are alerted of a tsunami warning not far off the coast. An 8.0 quake just hit the Solomon Islands. I think the Indian Ocean tsunami three years ago was a 9.0 quake. If you look at a map, there are a ton of little islands to the East of the Solomons. To the West lies Papua/New Guinea. Townsville is about 1100 miles SE of the epicenter. Early reports from Honiara near the epicenter report the town was quickly covered by 10 feet of water.

Stay tuned.
