The Skers

looked pretty good. I mean granted, it was Nevada, but considering Michigan I'm not sure that you can really overlook anyone. I give the performence an 8.7 out of 10, the only sore spots being Terrence Nunn and Keller's sometimes careless throws. This guy is poised to throw a lot of picks, I don't even know what Nebraska's season record is, I'm guessing Joe Dailey currently holds it, but it could be in jeopardy.

I think Nebraska handles Wake Forest but doesn't put up near as many points this week. I'm saying 31-17 good guys. Running game won't be nearly as effective but we get a few big throws. Keller has something like 275 yards and 3 TDs with 2 INTs. D looks good again.

Comments:
I look for Keller to improve steadily and even impressively place the ball rather than scaring us for a solid half before checking in. You should get one of your Heavy Soul staffers to look into the most picks stat because while Keller doesn't exactly spray it, he is unafraid to try nearly any throw on the field.

Also, more of the wealth will get spread amongst the minivan full of running backs we have. Marlon will get 15-20 touches max so that he's had a good workout, but isn't tired going into the USC game.

I don't think that Wake will be able to put up your 17 with their signal caller sitting out with a separated throwing shoulder, however. An inexperienced backup QB could lead to some more defensive fireworks this week.

I'm feeling something around 42-10.

Call me Debbie Downer, but after watching highlights of the WF game from last week on Big Red Wrap Up, they run precisely the type of offense that gives a Kevin Cosgrove-ran defense fits. I am legitimately worried about this.

And keep in mind, that Skinner kid made his first college start last season after their original starter went down, and all he did was led them to the ACC crown.

Are they going to catch lightning in a bottle like that again? Not very likely, obviously, but it did look like the guy who will start against us has a solid arm. And their defense--even though the score did not show it--looked pretty fast in the highlights I saw. Not to mention they were on the road against a team that easily could have been in the Top 25 preseason.

I'm not saying we'll lose, but I am nowhere NEAR as comfortable as you guys with the outcome of this game. I'm thinking 31-24.

(That said, after watching USC on Saturday, I feel much better against them. If a kid from North Platte can throw around on them, Sam Keller certainly can. The middle of USC's defense looks very porous in regards to defending the pass.)

Granted, I didn't see the game, but from what I heard and read, it sounded like Keller had a lot of time to sit in the pocket. If this is the case it would be something that was sorely missing from our offense in recent years. If the offensive line can provide him time, and he is as we hope he is, then he should be able to throw up some good numbers. Yeah, he might throw a few picks, but there will also be plenty of yards and TDs to go along with them. At that point it is up to the defense to negate the offensive hick-ups.

I don't think we'll have a hard time with WF as long as we don't look past them to USC, but I am with GA in liking our chances in that one.

NU: 45
WF: 20
